Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to begin a career within the live events industry. As a Live Event Technician Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced professionals supporting the preparation, installation, operation and maintenance of technical equipment used for live events.

You’ll gain hands-on experience working on brand launches, national conferences, sales events, and large-scale international forums while studying towards the Level 3 Creative Industries Production Technician (Live Event Technician Pathway) qualification.

No two days are the same, and you’ll develop skills across lighting, audio, video, staging, rigging and event production.

Key Responsibilities:

You will learn how to:

  • Prepare, maintain and organise technical equipment before events.
  • Load, unload and transport equipment safely.
  • Assist with the installation of lighting, sound and AV systems.
  • Help rig staging, truss and associated equipment under supervision.
  • Support the operation of technical equipment during live events.
  • Carry out equipment testing and fault finding.
  • Maintain equipment to ensure it remains safe and operational.
  • Follow technical drawings, plans and specifications.
  • Work safely at all times following company procedures and industry legislation.
  • Complete equipment checks before and after events.
  • Support warehouse operations including stock control and equipment preparation.
  • Assist with cable management and network infrastructure.
  • Learn how to programme and operate lighting and audio systems.
  • Support the team during de-rigs and equipment returns.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients and venue staff.
  • Work professionally as part of a busy production team.
