Job Overview

Phoenix Pro AV are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Multi-Skilled AV Technician Apprentice to join our growing team.

This is a hands-on role working across a wide range of live events including corporate productions, broadcasts, and live experiences. You’ll gain hands-on experience working on a wide range of events including corporate productions, brand activations, and live experiences across the UK and beyond.

The successful candidate will gain experience in audio, video, lighting, and event infrastructure, supporting the delivery of high-quality technical productions.

This apprenticeship provides structured training alongside real-world experience, developing the skills required to become a well-rounded live event technician.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation, loading, and testing of AV equipment in the warehouse

  • Maintain high standards of equipment preparation, cleanliness, and organisation

  • Ensure all kit is correctly labelled, packed, and show-ready

  • Assist with equipment check-in/out using inventory systems (e.g. Current RMS)

  • Support senior technicians with the installation and setup of audio, video, and lighting systems on-site

  • Assist with the operation of equipment during live events, under supervision

  • Help with de-rigging, packing, and returning equipment safely after events

  • Assist with equipment testing, basic maintenance, and fault finding

  • Support routine inspections and preparation of equipment to company standards

  • Work alongside senior technicians to learn best practices in live event production

  • Gain exposure to technologies such as audio systems, video distribution, and AV-over-IP workflows

  • Represent Phoenix Pro AV professionally on-site and support delivery of high-quality client experiences

  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with health & safety standards

  • Assist with logistics, transport, and stock management

Training

You will be enrolled in the Level 3 Creative Industries Production Technician (Live Event Technician) Apprenticeship, gaining skills in:

  • Audio, lighting, and video systems
  • Rigging and staging
  • Power distribution and event infrastructure
  • Equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Health & safety and industry best practices
  • This programme combines on-the-job experience with structured learning, supporting long-term career progression in the live events industry

  • Aged 18 or over
  • Full UK driving licence (or actively working towards it)
  • A genuine interest in live events, production, or AV technology
  • An interest in IT, networks, and computer systems
  • Willingness to work long and varied hours depending on event schedules
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional long shifts
  • Ability to work on-site away from the o-ice, sometimes for multiple days
  • A strong work ethic and positive, can-do attitude
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team

 Desirable

  • Basic understanding of audio, video, or lighting equipment
  • Previous hands-on experience (education, hobby, or work-based)
  • Familiarity with tools, cables, or technical environments
