Summary

Job Overview

We are recruiting a Cultural Learning and Participation Apprentice to support with the behind the scenes set up, planning and monitoring of the National Football Museum’s Learning and Participation Offers. Furthermore, we are looking for someone who will work with colleagues to embed equity and inclusion at the heart of our community work, and encourage and develop increased representation in our programmes and wider outputs.

Overall Purpose of the Post

  • To support the outputs of the Learning and Participation Team, playing an active role in developing and delivering activity as part of our Football Creates agenda
  • To complete required learning and outputs to achieve the Cultural Learning and Participation Apprenticeship Award

Key Responsibilities

Formal Learning (Schools) Programme:

  • To support the delivery of the schools offer that uses football creates to engage pupils in the national curriculum  by drawing on museum collections and stories and in line with the Programme Strategy
  • To support the administration of the schools programme, working with the Bookings Coordinator and the Participation Producer (Learning) to ensure that all enquiries are responded to in a timely manner
 

Informal Learning and Outreach Programme:

  • To support the the development, set up and delivery of family activities, in particular during school holidays and special event days
  • To support the development, set up and delivery of the museums public programmes and core engagement session.
  • To support the development, set up and delivery of outreach programmes delivered by the museum.
 

Digital Content and Marketing:

  • To support with creating content for the museum’s social media and digital channels
  • To provide information to support effective marketing of programming and events.
 

Internal Stakeholder Management:

  • To build relationships with colleagues, and with external practitioners and partners, to support the delivery of the Learning and Participation programme
 

Reporting and Evaluation:

  • To carry out project evaluations
  • To collate and distribute feedback from groups and events to support evaluation and impact recording
 

Development and Apprenticeship Award: 

  • To use personal study time to develop skills in relevant areas of practice, and to complete actions, activity logs etc. as required by the apprenticeship provider.
  • To proactively identify opportunities for personal development, and take part in training and skills development offered by the organisation
 

Other:

  • To adhere to NFM policies, such as health and safety, child protection etc.
  • To ensure all activities undertaken are properly risk assessed and meet the requirements of the National Football Museum Health and Safety Policy
  • Any other duties consistent with the level of the post

  • Experience of working with audiences and communities to engage and inspire
  • Experience of supporting or delivering learning or education activities 
  • Experience of working with external contractors on delivery of events and packages
  • Experience of taking bookings and managing enquiries
  • Understanding of how museums and heritage can support learning and community engagement in a variety of ways

Qualities and Skills

  • Excellent time management skills, and ability to juggle a varied workload 
  • Self-motivated and able to work both alone and as part of a team
  • Good customer service skills, and ability to engage with a variety of clients on a day-to-day basis to promote and sell programmes
  • Able to work towards targets and to evidence progress for KPIs and departmental priorities
  • Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends, depending on programme need (the current programme requires 1-2 weekend days per month, although this is subject to change)
  • Willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check (due to the nature of the role)
