Frequently Asked Questions
Can you do an apprenticeship without GCSEs?
igned to enhance your work-related skills. During your induction, you will undergo an initial assessment of your English and Maths skills, and you will need to complete online external tests in both subjects.
If you have already achieved qualifications in Maths and English at a sufficient level, you will be exempt from completing the Functional Skills qualifications as part of your apprenticeship. In this case, your instructor or mentor will continue to work with you to develop your Maths and English skills in the workplace, enabling you to use these skills at a higher level.

To ensure compliance with wage regulations, we recommend paying at least the National Living Wage or the minimum wage for the employee’s age. Many employers also choose to offer a salary range in their job advertisements, as this can attract a diverse pool of candidates and help recruit the best possible future apprentices for the business.

The Department of Education is currently considering reducing the minimum length of programs to 8 months. However, most apprenticeship qualifications currently require a minimum stay of 12 months.
